Matured in Finest Oak Barrel; Finished in a First Fill Buffalo Trace Barrel. Product of Scotland. Nose: This light-colored dram opens with a delightfully chewy caramel/vanilla nose which builds into peach candy. The bourbon cask influence is undeniable here. Palate: The proof surprises even at 109.6 but quickly ebbs with more caramel sweetness and cream which then take you to butterscotch and syrup notes. Again, the BT barrel brings a light and lovely decadence. Finish: This has a delicate lingering finish that mellows evenly. This single malt bottling is the purest expression of the distillery's delicate character, with an emphasis on ex-sherry cask maturation to bring added depth to this whisky's natural charm. MIYAGIKYO Single Malt - This is a single malt from the Miyagikyo distillery, Nikka's second distillery built in 1969. The founder Masataka Taketsuru chose this site in the mountains of Sendai to contrast with his first distillery, Yoichi, located in the coastal area. Using less peaty malt and distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam, Miyagikyo single mall has an elegant fruitiness and a distinctive aroma with a strong Sherry cask influence. TASTING NOTES: COLOUR: deep gold. NOSE: full-flavoured, rich. Initially, concentrated iris notes hint at the extreme intensity of the nose, It then develops aromas of malted barley, exotic fruit (banana), liquorice and camphor. Notes of burnt wood and ash progressively settle over the aromatic palette. Long after, white flowers and beeswax make an appearance. PALATE: firm, lively. Malted barley is at the heart of the palate, coated in herbaceous, liquorice, spiced (ginger, cinnamon) and chocolate tones. Very elegant, the mid-palate also delivers plenty of energy and as it draws to a close, fresh tobacco leaves and coconut intertwine to create a natural symphony of aromas. FINISH: long, soft. It evokes the scent of wilted roses. Fine tannins balance its tangy character (lemon, grapefruit). Kilkerran is derived from the Gaelic 'Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain' which is the name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell and Campbeltown now stands. Kilkerran is thought to be a suitable name for a new Campbeltown Malt since it was unusual for the old Campbeltown distilleries to be called after a Glen, a custom more usually associated with the Speyside region. Fully matured in a Rioja wine barrique, this 5yo Staoisha expression from Bunnahabhain distillery is deliciously peaty and savoury with notes of tobacco, smoked paprika, rock salt and hessian. Bunnahabhain Information - An imperious and impressive distillery located on the north-east of Islay - the location was decided by William Robertson (of Robertson & Baxter) along with Greenlees Bros back in 1881. This remote location meant that they had to build houses as well, constructing a road and a pier too, so that workers could live nearby and casks & barley could come in with whisky going out. Production has increased in recent times, leading to investment in the distillery site - including a visitor centre. TASTING NOTES - Nose: Lumpwood charcoal, burnt candle wick, teriyaki glaze, eucalyptus, tobacco, tomato leaves. Flavour: Oily. Very salty, mineral notes, smoked paprika. This precious water is a key ingredient in the production of our high quality, sweet dram. We never add caramel or strip flavour out using chill filtration. We serve our whisky at 46%. ABV which means it stands up well to dilution.
